Gatsby Poster Concept Art

It has been a while since I posted anything so I figured I'd just put this up.

I am currently involved in a theatre adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." The play was adapted and is being directed by a good friend of mine and as part of my involvement I was asked to design the posters to promote the play. This sketch is from my initial ideas. I wanted to have a main focus (in this case I chose to make Daisy the focus) and then create an art deco inspired background incorporating the NYC skyline which is being used as part of the set for the show and shades of green as inspired by the green light in the story. I have since completed the poster although I will not be posting it here..

The sketch is quite rough as it was done in preparation for our initial meeting about the poster with the intention to clean it up later if we decided to go with Daisy. Instead the focus was swapped for Nick's glasses but I still quite liked how this came out despite being rather rough around the edges. I may revisit it later and clean it up (most likely I won't though )

Oh I don't have access to a scanner anymore so please excuse the fact I took the picture on my phone..
